Line 5 is basically stating why the speaker wants to go to Innisfree, its for peace and peace of mind. Lines 6, 7, and 8 are generally placing the image of nightfall and encompassing this beautiful environment as he says â€Å"midnight’s all a glimmer†. 3rd Stanza 9 I will arise and go now, for always night and day 10 I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore; 11 While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, 12 I hear it in the deep hearts core. Line 9 is almost a reminder that the speaker is not necessarily at this island. Line 10 is an image of the island Line 11 mentions how the speaker is in an urban area as he mentions grey pavement and the roadway. Line 12 mentions the speaker’s passion and longing to visit this Isle of Innisfree. Sound Devices in The Lake Isle of Innisfree: Structure: 3 stanzas with four lines each Because each stanza is four lines, this poem is an example of a quatrain. Rhyming Scheme- ABABCDCDEFEF Lyric Poem The rhythm and rhyming scheme adds to the poem’s soft, dreamy and hypnotic tone. Note in this last line of the poem the ‘ea and ‘ee’ sounds in this line. These sounds reveal a tone or mood of longing in the poet. Allusion- â€Å"Nine bean-rows† This is an allusion to Henry David Thoreau’s transcendental writings in â€Å"Walden†. In this poem he mentions wishing to have nine bean rows and a hive for the honey bee. Henry Thoreau, American author and poet, had nine bean rows near his cabin at Walden Pond. Imagery â€Å"And live alone in the bee-loud glade† ; â€Å"midnight’s all a glimmer† ; â€Å"water lapping with low sounds by the shore† , These lines give the reader the sights of a swarm of bees, of nighttime and gives us sense of calmness and tranquility. Metaphor And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow -The slow, simple pace of life resembles peacefulness, and serenity (line 5) Symbol Innisfree Yeats uses â€Å"Innisfree† as a symbol. She is basically stating she is always content with herself and no one can change that. When she may be in an unhappy state due to other people’s opinions or her surroundings, she goes to a place where she can contemplate, reflect and may become happy or in a state of peace again without crude remarks bothering her. When the greed, lust and creed for the money, power and throne overtakes the man, he starts seeking help from the evil powers that are often unseen. He tries to get the knowledge of future to take measures appropriate enough to take the short-cut path towards his ambition. Short-cuts always involve evil and evil powers are sought to accomplish evil and horrifying tasks that no man can think to do in his complete senses intact. Shakespeare adopted the same strategy to grab the interest and attention of his viewers. And he was pretty successful in using supernatural events and prophecies as the basic element of the play. this made his play Macbeth one of the greatly remembered and recognized play of all the times. Hence, we can say that the key element that made the play and its concept worked are the witches, the apparitions, the ghosts and the visions that have occurred throughout the play time-to-time. The supernatural events in the play gave clues to the audiences to what is going to happen in the future with the Macbeth as well as Lady Macbeth. The paly holds a very deep meaning for those who have been following the evil powers and magic from centuries and have seen to meet the almost similar fate as that of the Macbeth. Now we shall be throwing the light exclusively on the play Macbeth, to know how the appearances of supernatural events, the witches and the apparitions determined and predicted the fate of Macbeth. The first supernatural event that occurred in the play was the three witches appearing in the beginning of the play, predicting the gruesome fate of Macbeth that gave the audiences an idea for what is going to happen in the end. When the battles lost and won (Act I, Scene I, l.4) said by second witch. This means that every battle will be won by one and lost by the other side. this determined the fate of Macbeth that he will go on and win the battle, but he will lose against the time in the battle of his soul and life. This was the very first supernatural event to occur in the play. This prophecy made Macbeth depend on the witches too much. He started trusting them for guiding him towards his luck or rather fate. This blind trust of Macbeth on the witches cost him his life in the end. After the audiences are given the clue of the Macbeths fate, next came the plan to gain the power and throne. Macbeth had two choices. One was to go on the correct path while the other one was much shorter and the results were expected to be revealed soon. And this path was the path of evil. the plan was to kill king Duncan without any remorse(Act I, Scene V, ll.42-57). Lady Macbeth used her powers to gather the evil spirits that guided Macbeth to kill the King Duncan. In which he succeeded. This was another supernatural event that took Macbeth a step ahead on his disastrous fate. This killing forced him to clear out the other person, who suspected Macbeth of Duncans murder, Banquo. Macbeth hired a murderer to kill Banquo. But as soon as the murderer confirmed the news of the Banquos killing, Macbeth saw the ghost of Banquo that made him create a scene in a banquet, which carved more suspicion on him(Act III, Scene VI, ll.31-120). Here the apparitions and vision of the ghost made Mac beth so bedraggled that he almost lost his senses and started to blurt out what he shouldnà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢t have done. This made people point at him in suspicion. Next the witches plan to make Macbeth over confident about his fate as he was heavily relying on the prophecies of the three witches (Act III, Scene V, ll.1-35). This plan of the witches was to take Macbeth towards his gruesome end. Macbeth greatly relying on the witches managed to find their cave and went there to find out what lies ahead for him in the future. this was the time of action for the witches. this is where the Macbethà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢s blind trust has landed him. he is now in full control of the witches desires and evil powers and he has no power left in him to take decisions of his own. The witches making use of their evil powers started showing him apparitions. The very first one was an armed head that said: à ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€¦Ã¢â‚¬Å"Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware of Macduff; beware thane of Fife. Dismiss me: enough. (Act VI, Scene I, ll.77-78). The first apparition tells Macbeth to beware of Macduff. Then the second apparition appears (a bloody child), and says: Be bloody, bold, and resolute; laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth. (Act IV, Scene I, ll.85-87). This apparition informs Macbeth that no man born from a woman can harm him. Finally, the last apparition appears and is a child crowned, with a tree in his hand. The apparition is saying that he will never be defeated until Great Birnam wood shall come against him to High Duns inane Hill. Be lion melted, proud, and take no care that chafes, who frets, or where conspirers are: Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam wood to High Duns inane Hill shall co me against him. (Act VI, Scene I, ll.98-102). Now all these three apparitions were enough to make Macbeth over confident about his fate that eventually led him to his death. Death became his fate as was predicted by the witches in the very first prophecy. Thus, throughout the play it is very clearly shown by Shakespeare in the chain of prophecies and supernatural appearances that the fate of Macbeth was determined and predicted by the prophecies of witches and the supernatural appearances. The first prophecy made Macbeth have a blind trust on the evil powers rather than his own strengths and courage. Then the vision of Banquoà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢s ghost made him believe that just like witches, the ghost can also take his revenge that baffled him altogether in front of the whole hall. And the last key in his coffin were the apparitions in the cave that made him so over confident that he started thinking himself as immortal. And this overconfidence killed him.

The Role of Women in Things Fall Apart      Ã‚  Ã‚   Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart explores the struggle between old traditions within the Igbo community as well as Christianity and "the second coming" it brings forth. While on the surface, it appears the novel narrows its focus to a single character, Okonkno and his inner battles, one can read deeper into the text and find an array of assorted conflicts in the realm on human vs. human, human vs. nature, human vs. society, and society vs. society. For the purposes of this paper I shall focus on the labyrinth of human vs. human and human vs. society in the framework of the role of women in Igbo society and how men assign and dictate these roles. I will also briefly explain the importance of women in terms of motherhood and wifedom. Throughout my research I've encountered numerous papers on the rights women do have in Igbo society, on the importance of women in this society. They site the role of widows in Igbo society as well as the respect given to the first wife as proof that while this society is not an ideal situation for women, it is hardly the misogynist society that some make it out to be. I passionately disagree. It is obvious to me that to the characters in Things Fall Apart, women are "things" to be exploited, abused and to serve as second-class citizens to the rank of male privilege. The theme of misogyny runs rampant throughout the text whether it is exposed by the absence of women in the text, the abuses women suffer at the hands of men, or the subtle ways in which society dictates and reinforces these negative statuses and images of women. Beauty

What is Beauty? Everyone looks at beauty differently and everyone has his or her own definition of it. In today’s society beauty is seen as a person’s psychical appearance, what clothes they wear, their hair and make-up, and even the shape of their body. The World English Dictionary’s first definition states beauty as â€Å"the combination of all qualities of a person or thing that delights the senses and pleases the mind. †(â€Å"Beauty† N. pag. ) I agree with this definition because I believe beauty goes deeper than the appearance of a person that it is the combination of all a person’s qualities.Too many people do not see beauty for what it really is but only see it as a psychical quality. Beauty is more than skin deep; beauty is kindness, gratefulness, courage, unselfish love, and happiness. A person’s beauty is not something that should be measured on how they appear physically, but is something that should be measured on their ki ndness. People’s kindness can show them for who they really are showing their true beauty. To be kind is to be generous and caring of others. It is being able to help others when they need it, to be respectful of everyone, and to show fairness no matter what.Kindness is beauty because kindness is a person showing respect for the feelings of another individual. It is to be aware of their actions and how their actions are affecting others. They treat others the way they hope to be treated. I believe this is how people should describe and see beauty today because beauty should be seen not how people see each other, but as how people treat one other.Beauty is not the type or style of clothes a person wears, but beauty is being grateful. It is people being thankful and appreciative. For their family and friends, for the stuff their pare nts provide for them. Gratefulness is beauty because people who are grateful acknowledge what they have been given in life and are not greedy for more but are happy for what they have. people who are grateful have beauty because they are not unappreciative or ungrateful but they say thank you when they receive a gift or service no matter how little or small it was. This is beauty because eople should look at beauty as the actions of others whether they are appreciative or selfish. Beauty is not dependent on the shape of a person’s body, but it is the unselfish love they have and share to others. People who are able to love everyone in their life without judging or mistreating others have beauty. Unselfish love is being able to love people for who they are and not strive to change them but to accept them for everything they are. Unselfish love is being able to put someone else’s needs first, and to care for others no matter who they are.This is beauty because people sho uld see beauty should be seen on the love that people have on one other. It can be a difficult task to have unselfish love and not many people today can say they are able to go without judging others or being hurtful. Beauty is having courage. Beauty is people having the courage to stand up for what they believe in no matter what other say or do. It is people being able to look past what others want them to do or think and to do what is right for themselves and others.It is being able to go for their goals no matter how frightening the journey looks. Courage is beauty because people with courage are able to stand up for themselves, to go for their dreams, and to do the right thing no matter what. People should see this as beauty because courage is nothing small it takes a strong person to have courage in life. Beauty is how a person’s hair and makeup looks, but it is a person’s happiness. people with happiness are able to show joy and satisfaction in their lives. They are over all happy not only with themselves but also with life.Happiness is beauty because to be happy is to have the feeling of delightfulness and contentment. When people have happiness that does not mean that they will never get sad or down occasionally, but it means that they will be able to push past the down times in their life and remember that tomorrow is always a new day. A person with happiness will remember to keep their head up because they know things will get better. Everyone has his or her own definitions of beauty. Some people see beauty as the appearance of a person.They think that beauty is defined as the type or style of clothes they have, or how their hair and makeup look, and some even define beauty as the shape of a person’s body. However, some people are more like me and define beauty by what is on the inside. Some believe beauty comes from a person’s personality or their characteristics. As Kevyn Aucoin says, â€Å"beauty has a lot to do with c haracter. † (N. pag. ). I agree with Kevyn Aucoin, I do not think that beauty should be looked at as the physical appearance of a person. Allen Poe, one central idea is obsession. Poe uses both structural choices and point of view to show this central idea. Pope's structural choices shows us how much obsession about getting rid of the eye the narrator has. In paragraph three it says†undid the lantern cautiously o h so cautiously cautiously†. This repetition shows us that the narrator is putting a I to of effort and time into his obsession. In paragraph eleven it says â€Å"The old man's hour has come!They exclamation shows us how excited the narrator gets when he HTH inks he is going to get rid Of his obsession. Finally in paragraph fifteen†Search search w bade them†. The way Poe says this shows us that the narrator was truly obese seed with getting rid of the eye, because the narrator thinks he has gotten away from hi obsession safely. All of Pope's structural choices shows how much the narrator is obsessed. The point of view also shows the narrator's obsession.In paragraph two the orator says , â€Å"l loved the old man,† adding, â€Å"He had never wronged me. † Alls o in paragraph two, he reveals that he was obsessed with the old man's eye â€Å"the eye off vulture a pale blue eye, with a film over it. † Without any real motivation, then, other than his obsession, he decides to take the old man's life. Lastly in paragraph t hearten it says â€Å"A tub had caught it all ha! Ha! â€Å". This text shows us that to the narrator, hi s obsession is just a game. Poe used structural and point of view to show us the narrator's obsession.
